I just found out that Dave sometimes checks our blog when he is at work, so maybe he'll see this sometime. I threw a shower (with a friend) for a friend in my ward tonight and I couldn't have done my part without Dave.
Dear Dave,
Thank you for making me a lollipop tree.
Thank you for taking every single light out of it's socket in the strand of Christmas lights to try to find the one that was causing a short.
Thank you for picking up all three kids from school.
Thank you for coloring with our daughter while I prepared for the baby shower.
love,
me

From home
I grew up in San Diego, California. One of my best friend's dad (who was like my second dad growing up) just had heart surgery. This is what was posted on their facebook wall and I'm not surprised at all that they grew up learning this. They are such a loving family.

'This is The serenity prayer-
God grant me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
and Wisdom to know the difference.'
It's one of my family sayings I grew up on and so appropriate for today as my dad is in for another heart procedure."...
Each person is a child of God and in that, even when they do this that or the other, they are still innocent children to the level of their knowledge and ability. If we can see each person through God's eyes and through His Love the challenges we face will be eased. We can only change ourselves and even with that we are only changed through God's love. We each have an opportunity to let God's love shine through us and share it with others in every relationship we have. One of my favorite sayings right now- "It is what it is, until it isn't." That helps me to accept the things I cannot change and the love of God helps me to do it with more serenity. The wisdom comes as we courageously face our own shortcomings and create change in our own lives. May God's light Bless you today as you face this challenge.
I am praying for his quick recovery.

CTR
The kids are learning about Choosing the Right in primary this month. Which is why when Ashlyn brought up this activity I thought it was perfect!
We have a subscription to the Friend magazine and as Ashlyn was reading through it she found this great idea for making CTR pretzels. So, that is what we did for Family Home Evening this week.

Cute from tonight's convo
at dinner...
Corbin: "Mom, tonight I'm going to go to bed. Then I'm going to wake up early tomorrow. Then I'm going to go and have an adventure!!"
later tonight...
Trevor: "Mom, I have to tell you the secret I told Corbin. I told him that he should pretend to go to sleep and then after you and dad are asleep I told him to come into my room and then we could play as long as we want."

Ashlyn's sparkling room
Ashlyn cleaned her room and then came to me and said,
"Mom, come see my room! It is so great that your eyes will be sparkling. And then they will pop out of your head!"
Her room was pretty sparkling.
She made sure her dolls were taken care of with a good book to read.

She organized the top of her vanity just the way she likes it. (I plan to paint this white someday...I bought it on Craigslist for $10)

When Ashlyn makes her bed every little wrinkle has to be removed. She is meticulous about her bed. The boys on the other hand basically just throw their blankets on their beds. :) (ok, it's a little better than that...a little:))
