Trevor's 2nd grade field day

May 27--
Amongst all the other festivities on Corbin's birthday we managed to fit in helping out at Trevor's class field day. Every year the kids get an hour to go outside and do field day activities, i.e. tug-of-war, limbo, basketball, relay races, jump rope. Here are some shots from Trevor's field day.

Corbin at age 4

Trouble. But the good kind. Risk-taker, gets right back up if he falls down, imaginative, intelligent, momma's boy, naturally coordinated, adventurous. Corbin is very lovable...to me.:) He is always asking to hold my hand and giving out hugs. He was attached to my hip his whole first year and it's kind of been the same since. He loves to make up imaginary games, fighting the bad guys, rescuing pretend animals, letting his sister dress him up and play "the mom". He loves to tease people and is always playing little pranks on friends and siblings. He adores Trevor and Ashlyn and is game to play anything with them. He is always talked into playing the character in the game that no one else wants to be (i.e. the bad guy, the mom, the baby sister:)). He loves the trampoline. He loves the water. He is really good at throwing and catching baseballs. He loves to read and many nights will insist on reading at least 10 books before bedtime. He loves to do crafts. He loves to play board games and card games. He climbs to the top of anything high in our house and jumps off without a second thought. If he could choose, he'd eat chocolate chip pancakes every morning for breakfast. Chocolate chips are the one thing I can bribe him with.

FRIDAY, MAY 27--
Corbin woke up (ok, we actually had to really coax him to wake up this morning, he was out!) to breakfast in bed. Upon request I made him crepes with homemade whip cream in the middle (healthy, I know) plus a side of strawberries, scrambled eggs, chocolate milk and the annual breakfast birthday cupcake.

Corbin wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese on his birthday (his friend party was a few days later). So off we went to Filth E. Cheese (that's what I like to call it). We spent a couple of hours there and the kids had a blast.

Corbin asked specifically for an Eagle cake. Here is what I made for our family party that night...

I love that Corbin is wearing his most favorite shirt of all time in this picture--Animal from the Muppets. It was one that I really didn't want to buy and tried to talk him out of at first (not a huge fan of cartoon shirts) but I could tell he loved it and that makes me smile.

Nothing is better than snugs from dad...

CORBIN TURNS 4!!!

Corbin turned 4 on May 27th and here are his 4-year-old birthday pics I took of him...

Celebrating Trevor's birthday at school

MAY 23, 2011:
Trevor has a summer birthday so his teacher let me bring in cupcakes to celebrate his birthday early and during the school year. He wanted the cupcakes to be half homemade chocolate, the other half vanilla with blue food coloring in it and some that had pink food coloring in it (for the girls). It was a fun day and Mrs. Cohen was so nice to let us celebrate his birthday early.

One of Trevor's last Learning Garden's for the year

MAY 26, 2011
They made butterfly wind chimes and played outdoor games. Greg's mom, Erika, put it together and the kids had so much fun.

A trip to the Library to sign up for Library cards

MAY 19, 2011:
One of our preschool teachers arranged a field trip to the library for the kids. They had a tour of the library. They got to sing songs and the librarian read to them and they got to do a fun craft. It was a great time. At the end of the field trip the kids all got their very own library cards and were able to check out a couple of books.

A few trips to the Children's Museum with friends

Ashlyn said at dinner tonight...

"Life wouldn't be fun if you didn't have kids." So true.

Dave makes it official

MAY 16, 2011
Dr. David Collette is no longer DMD, but DMDMD. He's trying to see just how many titles he can get behind his name. Seriously, I think this accomplishment deserves recognition because it has been a REALLY (did I mention really?) long road. Sometimes it feels like school will never end (oh wait, we are talking about David right now). I'm sure he feels the same way. :) 2 more years and counting...
GETTING HIS DIPLOMA:

PICTURES WITH THE KIDS:

CORBIN WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THESE SHOTS HAD HE NOT BEEN REFUSING TO TAKE A PICTURE AND THROWING A TANTRUM ON THE FLOOR :)

DAVE'S PARENTS CAME:

MY MOM CAME:

THE KIDS WORKED REALLY HARD TO MAKE DAVE A CONGRATULATIONS SIGN:

WE TAPED IT TO OUR WINDOW SO THAT DAVID WOULD SEE IT AS HE CAME HOME

WE ALL WORKED TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS CANDY POSTER FOR DAVE THAT READS:
DAD, WE THINK YOU ARE OUT OF THIS MILKY WAY. YOU'VE WORKED EXTRA HARD AT BEING A NERD AND NOW YOU'VE FINALLY REACHED YOUR PAYDAY. WE LOVE YOU. FROM, YOUR SWEETHEARTS.

BETWEEN TREVOR AND CORBIN, DAVID'S DAD PLAYED A LOT OF CHESS THAT WEEKEND

Ashlyn's bike parade to celebrate starting kindergarten in the Fall!

MAY 15, 2011
This was the cutest thing ever. Ashlyn's elementary school does a bike parade every year for incoming kindergarten students. They bring their bikes to school, decorate them and then ride around the school in a parade. Parents also get to view kindergarten classrooms and all the kids get to take a short 10 minute ride on the bus. It is so fun for the kids! Here are some pictures...

We rode our bikes to the elementary school...Dave's parents were in town so we all walked together. (p.s. I LOVE the scenery in Ohio. Especially the dark clouds contrasted with the bright green grass and leaves on the trees.)

Ashlyn decorating her bike. Corbin decorated his as well.
