Happily Ever After

Today Ashlyn said our nightly family prayer and in it she said, "I'm thankful that we can live happily ever after as a family."
Have I mentioned I love that girl? I do.

I love snowshoeing! Granted, it's just a bunch of walking around in fancy shoes, but for some reason it is so fun to me. We all love it. We went with some friends out snowshoeing on Martin Luther King day. Dave had the day off and it was a really fun family day. We got to roast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate while we were out snowshoeing too. Good times. We ended the day with a barbecue at another friends house. (don't ask about my warm potato salad, ok? I was crunched for time, I promise :)).

Nephi's boat

We had a Family Home Evening lesson about Nephi being commanded to build a ship. It went along great with the model boat kit that our neighbors gave us. We had the lesson and then worked on making our own boat. It has been a fun project that will take several days to complete. The kids are loving it, but I think David is even more excited than them.

FORT

Corbin and Ashlyn made this fort last week. They had so much fun playing in it and brought animals and pillows and blankets in it so that they could sleep in it that night. When bedtime came we got them all nestled in, turned off most of the lights and then went upstairs to make sure Trevor was getting ready for bed. Five minutes later I hear commotion on the stairs and Corbin saying, "That was freaking me out! That was freaking me out. I'm sleeping in my bed." Ashlyn was right in front of him saying, "OOooo that was scary. Let's sleep in our bed." hahaha I love to say yes to things like this ( and this ) because I get to be the fun mom and I know it only lasts so long before they realize their comfy bed will give them better sleep!! :)

Nerf Gun fun

My kids love to play with Nerf guns, especially when Dave gets involved with the fun. Here are Ashlyn and Corbin gearing up for a Nerf gun match.

*Side note...Ashlyn is really into making jewelry these days. She got a jewelry box from my mom for Christmas that she decorated and has been making lots of jewelry to go in. She made the necklace that she is wearing in this picture and I must say she did an excellent job!

Baking

My kids love to bake with me. Especially Corbin. We made cupcakes and I had the kids use their own cake decorating bags to put frosting on the top. They completed their masterpieces with sprinkles.

NUMBER ONE SPEECH
