Horseshoe Lake

In the middle of Ashlyn and Trevor's field day at school Corbin and I made our way to the little lake by our house.  We met up with friends and fed the ducks and played on the play ground.

Field Day

Trevor and Ashlyn had their annual field day at school. It was so much fun. Corbin came along and participated in most of the activities. I can't believe he will be at the same school next year.

Book of the Week

BATTLE HYMN OF THE TIGER MOTHER
(May 21, 2012)

I liked this book.  It was very controversial when it first came out and because of that I always have wanted to read it.  It is interesting to see the difference between Chinese parenting and western parenting (as she calls it in the book).  I think her methods are harsh but at the same time her children are amazingly talented geniuses. :)

Piano Recital

Trevor had his Summer piano recital.  He played the theme song from Harry Potter.

Since every participant selected one song from a movie Lisa brought popcorn containers filled with movie candy for refreshments and treats.  Really cute.

Girl Scout award cerimony

We had our very last girl scout meeting on May 1st.  The girls received awards and then played on the playground.

May 30, 2012
Ashlyn has been looking so much older to me lately!  Every time I see her now I think she looks like a girl and not a little girl (if that makes sense).  Yesterday I told her that she looked so grown up and she said, "Really?!  Does that mean I can be a mom now!!"  Ummm...no.  But she really is THAT excited to be a mom some day.  I love that.

Saying goodbye

Did I mention I love these sisters? I do! We had to have them over one last time before Sister Bills left. They  showed our kids a couple of really cool object lessons on trust in the Lord. One was a memory game and the other involved burning a tea bag on your hand. We almost started my house on fire, seriously. :) It worked while Trevor was holding it. Sister Bills lit the top of the tea bag and by the time it got to the palm of your hand it floated into the air and the flame extinguished. It was a great object lesson. We miss Sister Bills!
