Afghanistan

My friend, Emily, knows someone (through her mom's friend) that is living in Afghanistan right now. In Kabul to be exact. He found a need and he is filling it. And I am super impressed and humbled by his work. There are literally thousands of children living in freezing conditions there with no warm clothes and many have died because of it. My friend, Emily, has helped him by asking the members of our ward to collect blankets, socks, hats, sweaters and mittens. In just a couple of days she collected:

126 blankets
82 pairs of gloves
75 hats
60 pairs of socks
22 scarfs
a lot of baby clothes and other clothes
And
2 snuggies

These items will be delivered to the children within 2 days. I can't wait.
I keep thinking about this all day long and am so grateful someone
is out there taking ACTION and helping these children.

You give a guy a compliment...

And he busts out the gun-show.

Seriously.

It's that time of year again....

I love Valentine's Day. Like a lot. In college I used to make red and pink hearts and tape them to the walls (obnoxious, right?:)). I still love this holiday, in fact it is one of my top 3 favorites: Christmas and Easter are included in that as well.

Here is Ashlyn decorating her valentine's cards.

100th Day of school

On Monday, February 6th, Ashlyn's school celebrated the 100th day of school. The kindergarteners are mainly the ones who celebrate the day and they really look forward to it. Each Kindergartener makes an 100th day project, i.e. they bring in 100 of something. Ashlyn made a mural with 100 of her fingerprints. It was really cute. I came to school in the afternoon while Corbin was at preschool just to see how things were going and to take a few pictures.

She also made a fruitloop necklace at school that
had 100 fruitloops on it. So cute!

V-DAY PARTY 2012

This is such a fun event that my friend, Meghan, puts on every year. She is party planner extraordinaire and those who know her, know that I am not exaggerating in the slightest bit.

Her party consists of parents only and the game is "Couple Connection". Basically, we answer a bunch of questions about ourselves and our spouse the way we think our spouse will answer. Whomever gets the most right wins. There are three rounds and although we were the REIGNING CHAMPIONS 2011!!..we came in dead last this year. Haha!

Party pictures...

Being the humble people that we are, Dave and I decided to make medallions to put around our necks that said, "REIGNING CHAMPIONS 2011, DON'T MESS!" We thought we'd start the intimidation tactics right away.

Meghan had all of these really fun masks and hats for us to wear in our couples picture. She had a photo booth set up for us with a backdrop and everything. I loved the frame she made.

All the fancy couples

the score board...don't let this score deceive you...we got lucky and got 1 question right!
The party hosts: Ty and Megs

The MOST CONNECTED couple: Julie and Garn

The yummy dessert

The consolation prize. Which was pretty awesome. It was a bottle of sparkling white grape juice with a bag tied to it that said, "use this first" and inside the bag were breath mints, deodorant and shaving cream. Then a note was tied to the bottle of grape juice that said, "Then use this." Totally creative and cute. We each got a cd full of love songs too.

I loved this night.

Chik-fil-A

We've been to Chik-fil-a way too many times this winter, but it's hard to resist the indoor playground and the fact that they actually hire a lady to come in to make balloons and have crafts for the kids to do. It's pretty amazing and they really cater to families.

2012 celebration

We finally had our new year cake. We reviewed the individual and family goals we made at the beginning of January and the kids had fun wearing new years hats and being wild. p.s. i love homemade chocolate cake with magic frosting. it is totally my weakness.
