One of Ashlyn's good friends had a Valentine's Day party that Corbin and Ashlyn went to (Trevor was at school). The kids ate pizza with heart-shaped pepperoni's on it and decorated cup cakes. It was so fun and a great way to start the Valentine's Day weekend.
Just adults. We hired a babysitter (which we never do because I am paranoid) and had an AMAZINGLY great time! My friend Meghan is party person extraordinaire and the whole thing was so fun! She and her husband put on a "love connection" game where questions were asked, the husband had to answer and then the wife had to answer the question the way she thought the husband responded (and vice versa). Out of like 7 couples DAVE AND I WON!!! For the winning questions I had to answer "What is your father-in-laws middle name". Totally got it right. :) And Dave actually remembered the colors of our Wedding!! The stars were aligned and we were happy to accept the prize of a bucket of chocolates, movies, love songs and lip gloss! (who are we kidding--we totally ROCK at this game and will take anyone down who is up for a challenge :)) ........ THE HOSTS--MEGS AND TY LOVELESS! .........
This picture kind of makes me laugh because Corbin does not seem to be enjoying the choke hold... There was a lot of licking that went on... good thing we weren't giving these cookies out to anyone :) Oh yes, more finger licking...
I can really only get them to smile in pictures if I promise to let them do silly faces at the end. They LOVE to take pictures when they are making silly faces.
I love traditions, don't you? Every year I tie a heart mylar balloon to the kids beds so that they see them first thing when they wake up. Then they come down to the breakfast table and I have a valentine breakfast for them. We've done the red heart pancakes so much that I decided to mix it up and do heart shaped cinnamon sugar muffins with red pears. It was a good call. Here they are coming down from their beds to discover the Valentine's table.
Trevor missed his class V-day party. He went to school (yes, I actually sent him to school thinking he was fine) and the nurse called a couple of hours later and said he had a temperature of 101.5. So sad! Looking back at pictures from that day, I could see his face was flushed. He was so sick he didn't even care that he missed the party. Before I found out he was feeling sick from the nurse, I had made these fruit Kabobs for Trevor's class party. I cut the strawberries to look like hearts. Kinda cute. A friend stopped by to pick them up and take them to the party for me.
No, he was not love sick, but he was flu sick. For an entire week! On Valentine's day he took three separate naps throughout the day and the rest of the week he just remained low key with a fever on and off. I thought he was better by Friday, so we went out with some friends to an arcade/laser tag place but that afternoon he crashed again (I know, what a great mom moment) and had a fever again and slept pretty much the rest of the night and didn't really recover until Sunday night.
